Rudiger to sign new Chelsea contract? as defender gives one condition on signing new Chelsea contract
According to Daily Mail, Despite interest from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, Rudiger prefers to remain at Chelsea because he feels very much at home at the club and in London.
However, Antonio Rudiger’s Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season and the Blues are yet to reach an agreement with the German international over a new deal.
The German international currently earns around £5million-per-year at Chelsea and will extend his Chelsea contract if the Blues offer him a much improved contract.
Rudiger reportedly believes he should be the best paid defender at the club due to his importance to Thomas Tuchel’s team.
Rudiger is believed to earn in the region of £100,000 per week at Chelsea, which among the defenders is only beaten by full-backs Cesar Azpilicueta and Ben Chilwell on £150,000 and £190,000 a week.
The centre-back is free to talk to foreign clubs when the January transfer window opens, providing he does not agree and sign an extension with Chelsea before then.
Meanwhile, Rudiger insisted last week he ‘owes’ it to the Blues to ignore rumours about his future.
“For now I am only concentrating on what is happening right now. I owe that to the club, the coach and the team,” he told Welt am Sonntag while on international duty with Germany.
Asked about a potential return to the Bundesliga, Rudiger was straight-batted: “I’m currently only focused on Chelsea. We’ll see what happens.”
