Russia vs Ukraine : Roman Abramovich sends strong message to Russia after stepping away from Chelsea
Labour MP Chris Bryant had even suggested that Rooman Abramovich, ownership of the club should be seized from the Russian billionaire except he publicly denounces Russia president Vladimir Putin.
However, Apart from within the Chelsea circle, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been criticised in most parts of the country following Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine.
To be honest, publicly opposing Putin may save Abramovich’s face in the UK, but it won’t stop the war, and he could as well be perceived as a threat to the Russian president, and who knows, put his life at risk.
Abramovich has now decided to do better than just talk, he has decided to put in action in order bolster peace, and it has been confirmed that he’s the only influential figure from Russia who’s putting in efforts to stop the war.
Roman Abramovich’s spokesperson has confirmed that the Russian billionaire will try to help end the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“I can confirm Roman Abramovich was contacted by the Ukrainian side for support in achieving a peaceful resolution, and that he has been trying to help ever since,” the spokesperson is quoted by the Jewish Post.
“Considering what is at stake, we would ask for understanding as to why we have not commented on either the situation as such or his involvement.”
Russian film director Alexander Rodnyansky confirmed that Abramovich is the only Russian who reached out to Ukraine following their call for help.
“I can confirm that the Ukrainian side have been trying to find someone in Russian willing to help them in finding a peaceful resolution,” Russian film director Alexander Rodnyansky told the Jewish Post.
“They are connected to Mr Abramovich through the Jewish community and reached out to him for help. Mr Abramovich has been trying to mobilise support for a peaceful resolution ever since.
“Although Mr Abramovich’s influence is limited, he is the only one who responded and taken it upon himself to try.
“If this will have an impact or not, I don’t know, but I am in contact with Zelensky’s staff myself, and know that they are grateful for his genuine efforts.”
