Sarri gives update on Pedro’s injury

Having recently suffered a shoulder injury that kept him out for three matches last month, there was concern when Pedro was suddenly replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek against Burnley after just 30 minutes of action.

Chelsea were already missing Eden Hazard and if Pedro had a serious problem, suddenly our ranks at forward would start to look thin.

Luckily, it all turned out well. Chelsea racked up four goals in a comfortable win at Turf Moor and Pedro was apparently dealing with nothing more serious than a touch of gastroenteritis. That’s a fancy word for an upset stomach.

If it’s just a passing ailment, then he should be available for selection on Wednesday, when Chelsea take on Frank Lampard’s Derby County in the Carabao Cup at Stamford Bridge.

Pedro lost his place to Willian when he missed time with that shoulder damage. With two matches a week though, he’s guaranteed playing time.

And when he rounds back into his form, his nose for goal will be a welcome addition to the team.

He scored three times in the five Premier League matches before suffering the shoulder injury against PAOK and seems to be a great fit for what Maurizio Sarri is doing.

So, all’s well that ends well. Including a successful dash around the Turf Moor pitch and into the dressing room…
