Sergio Ramos finally reveals why he joined PSG ahead of Chelsea
According to latest reports, Spanish star Sergio Ramos has officially completed his move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain despite interest coming from English Premier League side Chelsea.
Chelsea and other top European sides, including Man United were reportedly linked with the legendary defender but he decided to go for the Ligue 1 giants.
One of the reasons why he decided for PSG on a two-year deal ahead of other suitors, according to the defender is his wish to ‘win as many trophies as possible’
The 35-year-old spent 16 years with Los Blancos, and was never an easy decision to make. His next move would have been well thought of.
Chelsea have Thiago Silva and wants to add another leader and experience to their central defence but they have of course, missed out of the opportunity.
Speaking on why he joined the French giants, Sergio Ramos said “I am very happy to join Paris Saint-Germain,” Ramos told PSG’s club website. “This is a big change in my life, a new challenge and it’s a day I will never forget.
“I am very proud to be a part of this ambitious project, to be a part of this squad with so many great players. Paris Saint-Germain is a club that has already proven itself at the highest level.
“I want to continue to grow and improve at Paris and help the team to win as many trophies as possible.”
Chelsea won the Champions League last season under Thomas Tuchel but he is keen to strengthen the his squad to be able to close the gap with Man City for a Premier League title win.
Thomas Tuchel has already made it clear that he hopes to add one or two players to his team ahead of next season. Consolidating last season’s success is top priority for the manager.
With the summer window now officially opened, the Blues are expected to make some announcements in the coming weeks and in specific positions.
