The Blues beat Tottenham on Saturday in what was a huge 6-pointer in terms of the race for Champions League qualification.

Frank Lampard’s side pulled 4 points clear of Jose Mourinho’s Spurs, and are still 3 points clear of Manchester United who are now one place behind them.

The star of the show for Chelsea was undoubtedly the return to the starting line up for Olivier Giroud.

The France World Cup winner finally got his first start since November and absolutely took his chance. He was all over the pitch, involved in all build up play, scored a great goal, and was a real asset.

He has certainly staked his claim for another starting place this Tuesday when Chelsea face Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League knockout stages.

Giroud has leapt ahead of Michy Batshuayi at least. The Frenchman got the same amount of shots on target (2) in 71 minutes that Bathsuayi has managed in his last 15 appearances, as reported by The Athletic.

He also completed almost twice as many passes (20), than Batshuayi managed in 68 minutes against Manchester United (11).
