Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Timo Werner during the summer but the player might favour a move to Chelsea.
As things stand right now, the 24-year-old is expected to join the Anfield outfit at the end of the season but according to football expert Andy Brassell, Timo Werner might snub a move to Liverpool since he will be looking to get regular playing time at whichever club he intends to join. “Of course he’s made such a push for Liverpool in the media opportunities he’s had over recent weeks, but I wonder if Chelsea could be in the mix as well,” he told via Express.
“You could see him walking into that team a lot easier. “The question is with Liverpool, especially with them going out the Champions League, it does tell you that success, however good, it is finite. “And at some point Liverpool, however brilliant they are, they’re going to have to make changes to that team.
“You can’t leave a team and just say: ‘It’s perfect, we can’t improve it’. That’s now how football works. “So the idea of Werner coming in to compete with those players and maybe even replacing one of them eventually is not completely off the table.”
Will Timo Werner snub Liverpool?
Timo Werner has a release clause in the region of £50million which expires in April so naturally, a number of clubs will be interested in his services. And one of those clubs might very well be Chelsea.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is sure to bring in a new centre-forward during the summer after he failed to buy one in January and Werner could be the perfect solution to all his problems.
The player has played in 25 games in the Bundesliga this season and has found the back of the net in 21 occasions which makes him a really lucrative buy given the price tag at which he might be available.
And while it still not clear as to how much Liverpool are willing to play for Timo Werner but we feel money will not be a problem for Chelsea since they are ready to splurge money at the end of the season.
