Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Chelsea transfer target Gedson Fernandes on an 18-month loan deal from Benfica.
The 21-year-old has been handed the number 30 shirt at Spurs, who will have the option to make his move permanent at the end of the 2020-21 season.
Chelsea made an offer to Benfica for the midfielder, believed to be an 18-month loan with an obligation to buy for £55 million.
Chelsea’s offer for Fernandes was dependent on the Portugal international midfielder playing at least 50 per cent of games during his loan spell at Stamford Bridge.
Fernandes is a box-to-box midfielder by trade and was one of the brightest young players in the Portuguese league.
