Tuchel ‘calls’ two highly-rated teenage talents for Chelsea pre-season – report
The Blues will begin their pre-season and preparations for the 2021/22 season on Monday, led by Thomas Tuchel himself.
While several Chelsea players are still on international duty with their respective country, it will be an opportunity for a number of returning loanees and academy talents to impress the manager.
However, according to Football London, Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel will assess several young Chelsea talents including two teenage talents; Armando Broja and Xavier Mbuyamba. Among these are two teenagers; Mbuyamba and Broja.
Mbuyamba, who arrived at Chelsea last summer from Barcelona, recently returned from an eight-month knee injury spell and is clearly rated highly by the club.
In fact, his agent Carlos Barros said that Chelsea had planned to promote the 19-year-old into the first team in a year or two prior to his transfer.
Amid reports on Tuchel’s wish to bring in another defender this summer, the pre-season could be an ideal opportunity for Mbuyamba to make a case for his first-team promotion.
Meanwhile, Broja, on the other hand, might find it even more difficult to earn a spot in the senior squad.
He had a fairly successful loan spell at Vitesse Arnhem, having had 10 goals and two assists in Eredivisie last season.
Unfortunately, it has been widely reported that Chelsea consider a new elite striker a priority this summer — and the reported transfer plan could hurt Broja’s first-team chances.
Although, Tuchel might still decide to use the Albania international as a backup striker if either Tammy Abraham or Olivier Giroud leave this summer.
Other returning loanees who, according to Football London, would join the pre-season are Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Trevoh Chalobah, Dujon Sterling, Marc Guehi.
The report also mention that Tuchel would evaluate several other high-profile returning loanees such as Tiemoue Bakayoko and Malang Sarr.
