Tuchel single out one Chelsea player for praise after 2-1 win over Leicester City
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea defeated Leicester City 2-1 despite playing them in a very challenging match.
Chelsea was the superior team in the first half, but Thomas Tuchel’s team had to work hard to win after Conor Gallagher was sent off just before the halfway point.
Raheem Sterling helped Chelsea earn three points by scoring two goals in the second half.
Thomas Tuchel said he altered the team’s composition to accommodate the former Manchester City star and expressed satisfaction with Sterling’s performance and goals.
Speaking about Sterling’s impact, Tuchel said: “It was necessary because we need him to score. It’s what he does and he will score. I could feel he was not happy because he wants to score more and have more chances.
“We played today in a more aggressive shape but then we were one man down so we needed him to step up, which he did. The goals were crucial today because they gave us the belief.”
