Tuchel wants €74m Brazilian player to replace Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has made it a priority to acquire a new striker this summer, with Romelu Lukaku poised to go after failing to impress since his record purchase from Inter Milan last summer.
However, The Blues were interested in acquiring Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, but the Pole has stated that if he gets his wish to leave the Allianz Arena, he will join Barcelona.
Tuchel wants Manchester City striker and Brazil international Gabriel Jesus to replace Lukaku at Chelsea, according to a Metro UK story.
Tuchel is said to be keen on signing the 25-year-old attacker, and hopes to beat Arsenal and Real Madrid to his signature.
Following the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, Jesus is also willing to leave Manchester City this summer, with Manchester City expected to seek £45 million for the striker.
Jesus has a year left on his City contract and has decided to move in quest of first-team football, which will be even more difficult now that Erling Haaland has arrived.
Arsenal had been the frontrunner in the hunt to recruit Jesus this summer, but the Blues are poised to beat Arsenal to the signing with a Champions League bid.
Jesus would be considered as a statement signing by Todd Boehly’s consortium in their first summer in command of the club.
