‘Useless, doing nothing for us’: Some Chelsea fans fume with player’s display in Leicester draw

Pedro earned a rare start in the Premier League during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were fuming with his performance.

Chelsea earned a point on the road in the league at the King Power Stadium and there was a dramatic second-half that included four goals. Antonio Rudiger headed Chelsea into the lead immediately after half-time, before Harvey Barnes’ deflected effort levelled the game up at 1-1.

England left-back Ben Chilwell then gave hosts Leicester an advantage with his strike, but Rudiger ensured the Blues left with a point with another towering header into the back of the net.

The result means that Chelsea stay fourth in the table eight points behind third-placed Leicester and they will now be nervously looking over their shoulders at the teams chasing them, with three teams all seven points adrift. A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media singled out Pedro for his contribution at the weekend and believe he offered very little.

The Spanish winger played in his first league game since Boxing Day and it was his first start in the top-flight since November. He did have one clever chipped effort at goal tipped over by goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, but apart from that offered very little in the final third and struggled to make a serious impact.

The 32-year-old wide player was a surprise inclusion in Frank Lampard’s side starting XI and the gamble didn’t pay off, as he was substituted off in the second-half in the 74th minute.
