CHELSEA SUFFERED A HUMILIATING DEFEAT IN THE HANDS OF BOURNEMOUTH AND SOME ANGRY SUPPORTERS CONFRONTED THE ITALIAN AFTER THE GAME.
It has not gone well Premier League for Chelsea in the last few days. After being dominated by Arsenal last week, the Blues were humbled by The Cherries mid-week. ‘Sarriball’, as it is known, was obliterated by Eddie Howe’s men, handing the blues their worst defeat since 1996. Now, fans seem to have lost faith in Sarri’s methods, urging him to formulate a ‘Plan B’.
“IT WAS DISGUSTING, IT WAS”
The Blues’ manager was heavily criticised following the humiliating defeat at the Vitality Stadium which saw them slip out of the top four in the Premier League table. Travelling fans didn’t take well to the 4-0 thrashing. A small section of the Chelsea fans waited outside the Vitality Stadium until the manager left in order to make their feelings known.
One asked Sarri if he was capable enough to motivate the under-performing players in the wake of the embarrassing loss. He also told him that the display was “disgusting” and labelled it the “worst performance he has ever seen”.
But Sarri showed his class in the face of criticism by patiently listening to what the disgruntled fans had to say. And he then offered his sincere apologies, saying sorry several times before shaking hands and leaving on good terms.
SIGNS OF FRUSTRATION ….. YET AGAIN
The heavy defeat to Bournemouth saw them drop down to fifth behind Arsenal on goal difference. The confrontation happened after the match in which the travelling Chelsea supporters had turned on their manager.
Sarri was booed for substituting striker Gonzalo Higuain when his side was trailing 2-0 in the second half. And chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing” rung from the away end, just six months into his reign in charge. Having previously criticised his players for being tough to motivate, Sarri faces an uphill task if the Blues wish to finish in the Champions League spots.
