Chelsea loanee Mason Mount bagged a beauty for Derby County on Friday night. We won’t mention the standard of goalkeeping.
One of Frank Lampard’s first actions as Derby manager was to sign Mount on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
Mount scored eight goals and provided six assists for Vitesse Arnhem last season. The Eredivisie is not the most competitive division, but he’s still a teenager.
The quality of some of the goals he scored during his time in the Netherlands is also notable. His highlight reel provides the impression of a top player.
He added another to his collection on Friday night as Derby took on Reading in the EFL Championship curtain raiser.
Mount took aim and fired towards goal with his left-foot. His low-driven strike from long-range flew into the net underneath goalkeeper Vito Mannone.
See the goal below.
A Chelsea loanee scoring past a former Arsenal goalkeeper is something we can certainly get behind. Let’s hope this is the first of many this season for Mount.
