(Video): Haaland Fulfills his Promise to Drogba

Erling Haaland was on the scoresheet twice as Manchester City beat Young Boys 3-0 to secure a spot in the last-16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Haaland celebrated his first goal in a way reminiscent of Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba celebration style

After the Norwegian was awarded the Gerd Muller Trophy during the 67th Ballon d’Or ceremony, Drogba had asked if he would celebrate his next goal like Gary Lineker or Drogba himself. Haaland’s response at the time was ‘wait and see’.

Haaland put City ahead from the penalty spot after Matheus Nunes was brought down in the box. Phil Foden, displaying exceptional skill and composure, added to City’s lead just before halftime, beating his defender and slotting home.

The momentum continued in the second half, with Haaland scoring his second goal in stunning fashion. Minutes later, Young Boys’ Sandro Lauper received his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card, further tilting the game in City’s favor.

Manager Guardiola made strategic changes, resting Rodri and bringing in Nunes and Rico Lewis in midfield, all while preparing for the upcoming Premier League clash against Chelsea.

Manuel Akanji, initially selected to start, had to bow out due to illness during the warm-up. Kyle Walker stepped in as a replacement, ensuring City’s lineup remained strong and resilient.
