Watch: Why Christian Pulisic came off instead of Timo Werner in Chelsea 5-2 defeat
Chelsea’s loss to West Brom ended a good couple of hours ago now, but we’re still finding fresh depths to the madness of that 90 minutes.
As well as a red card, a goalkeeper assist and conceding 5 at home to the bottom team in the league, a new dimension has been added by what happened to Christian Pulisic.
The winger came out for the second half, and seemed to hurt himself in the process. In the end it was Werner, not Pulisic, who was removed at the break. We don’t know whether to laugh or cry at this point.
You can see the absolutely surreal moment in the clip embedded here, with footage from NBC Sport:
NBCSN had footage of what happened with Pulisic’s sub at half. He ran 10 yards to a cone, complained about his hamstring and Tuchel did not look happy about it pic.twitter.com/TtSeb7BbP7
