Christian Pulisic faced a tough battle to get into the Chelsea team this season, but he made it in the end and was a good contributor most of the time when he was on the pitch.
But that competition will get even fiercer next season should the Blues make their dream marquee signing – Jadon Sancho. Despite that Goal.com have quotes from Craig Burley saying that the American will be ready for the challenge.
He played with Sancho at Dortmund and as the former Chelsea player points out, the winger is used to that kind of competition:
“It’s not new for Christian Pulisic to be fighting for your place, that doesn’t mean you’re a bad player overnight,” Burley is quoted as saying.
“Yes it’s a concern when you’re not playing but I do think he showed enough and showed enough to Frank Lampard in the period that he was there that he’s going to be a big part of the Chelsea plans going forward.”
Pulisic’s injury stopped him making as much of an impact as he could, and his form did tail off a little towards the end of his spell in the team, but he unquestionably showed enough to be assured he’s a big part of the team’s plans going forward.
