“Why sign these players?” – Darren Bent fires back at Chelsea for signing £145m players
According to former Premier League star Darren Bent has questioned Chelsea’s decision for signing both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.
However, it hasn’t worked for Werner at Chelsea, as the £47m signing from RB Leipzig has failed to hit the ground running in West London.
Another big money signing who’s currently struggling is Romelu Lukaku. The £97.5m signing has been unable to reach his heights at Inter Milan and was recently dropped for Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Lille, following a very poor performance against Crystal Palace.
According to Darren Bent, Chelsea are not playing to the strengths of the two pacey players, which is why they are struggling.
Bent told talkSPORT: “You look at the two centre-forwards they’ve bought recently, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku. Their biggest attributes are their pace. If you’re not going to play that way why sign these players?”
