Why Tuchel shouted at Antonio Rudiger in Champions League clash against Lille revealed
Following Chelsea’s 2-1 in over Lille it was claimed Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel shouted at Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger during the game.
However, Tuchel is one who expects his team to play in a certain way, and he maintains that standard, whether it’s a Premier League clash, a Champions League clash or an FA Cup third round clash.
Tuchel is very vocal on the sidelines and the players get a taste of it when they go against his system.
Meanwhile, Antonio Rudiger is often on the good books of the manager, but got his own yelling at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
While in possession at the back, Rudiger opted to send a hapless ball up front in search of a forward player which saw Chelsea lose possession, and this left Tuchel enraged, yelling at him as to why he didn’t find his nearest man. Rudiger in turn got the message and tried to signal the manager to calm down.
In another moment, Tuchel was jumping up and down, waving his arms and shouting to both Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen. The Blues boss was desperate for his side to switch the ball to Alonso to launch a fast-paced attack.
With the attack gone wrong, Alonso wasn’t definitely going to escape.
“Marcos, Marco!” came the call as half-time approached. The Spaniard was near his own box as Chelsea looked to transition play up the pitch.
“Marcos, Marcos!” came the shout again. This time the 31-year-old turned and tapped his ear, presumably to indicate he could not hear due to the noise coming from the Matthew Harding Stand.
The German was in disbelief, “What?!” came the call back. He did not look happy.
Surely, Tuchel has got the team on their toes, and it has reflected since his tenure as Chelsea boss began.
