‘Your mission is over!’–Didier Drogba tells former Chelsea player

According to latest reports, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba could not resist trolling Arsenal after ‘agent’ Willian left the club with the side sitting in last place in the Premier League table, telling him his ‘mission’ had been successful.

The Brazilian moved to north London from Stamford Bridge last summer on a free transfer and agreed a £220,000-a-week salary, though he made the shock decision to tear up his contract at the end of August so he could join Corinthians.

Willian, like many players who have swapped west London for the Emirates, endured a rather disappointing career with the Gunners.

He netted just one Premier League goal all season and was a mainstay in an Arsenal side that failed to qualify for Europe for the first time in over two decades.

Willian played no part in Arsenal’s disastrous start to the 2021/22 campaign, having been working on a transfer, but nevertheless leaves north London with the club sitting in 20th place after their worst start to a season in 67 years, losing all three of their opening games.

Now Drogba has opted to twist the knife, bringing up other Chelsea legends who have been part of Arsenal’s recent decline and congratulating Willian on completing his ‘mission’.

The Ivorian wrote on Twitter: ‘Thank you agent Willian, your mission is over, like David Luiz and Peter Cech.’

Luiz joined Arsenal a year before his countryman in an £8million deal and made more errors leading to goals than any other Premier League defender over that period, while Cech rather infamously let in four goals in 2019’s Europa League final against Chelsea having already agreed to return to the west London club as technical and performance advisor.

I’ll always hope that CFC players who gave us joy come back to play or work for @ChelseaFC but my previous tweet was a banter between us. Obrigado e boa sorte ao #Corinthians Thank you agent Willian, your mission is over, like @DavidLuiz_4 @PetrCech @willianborges88 👀😅💙….. pic.twitter.com/dZGM9MZFzu— Didier Drogba (@didierdrogba) September 1, 2021

After Willian’s departure from Arsenal had been confirmed, Drogba initially tweeted him saying ‘Come back home’ but later clarified that he was only joking.

‘I’ll always hope that CFC players who gave us joy come back to play or work for Chelsea but my previous tweet was a banter between us,’ he explained.

Willian actually registered a hat-trick of assists on his Arsenal debut against Fulham at the start of last season, but only assisted two more goals in his subsequent 24 Premier League outings and will now see out the remainder of his career in Brazil with Corinthians.
