“You’re to good to join Chelsea”. – €90M Chelsea target warned against joining Chelsea

According to reports, via The Sun Benfica midfielder and Argentina World Cup star Enzo Fernandez is a key target for Chelsea this January with the Blues in talks to sign the 21 year old midfielder.

However, Chelsea are keen on strengthening the midfield this January with Jorginho and N’golo Kante out of contracts at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, According to The Times, Benfica president Rui Costa has told Fernandez that Chelsea is the wrong club for him with the Blues struggling in the Premier League this season.

The Benfica president told the 21 year old midfielder that Chelsea was the wrong move for an individual who had just won the World Cup while being named the tournament’s best young player.

Costa reportedly urged Fernandez to stay at Benfica until the end of the season when more prestigious and better organised clubs would present themselves.

Fernandez was reportedly unimpressed by Costa’s attempts to make him snub a move to Chelsea and also Benfica’s offer to improve the terms of his present contract as a reward for remaining in Portugal for a full season.

Fernandez signed from River Plate for an initial transfer fee of €10 million (about £8.8 million) in June and Benfica are demanding €120million for his transfer.

Fernandez has made his stance clear that he wants to join Chelsea this January and wants Benfica to reach an agreement with Chelsea.
