BREAKING: Roman Abramovich involved in $65m deal

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is worth $12.2 billion according to Forbes, and is the world’s 113th-richest person.

The Blues Russian billionaire owner is still in the habit of spending money, although Chelsea fans could claim that the Russian hasn’t been spending much on the club in recent years.

Abramovich immigrated to Israel in 2018, and in usual fashion became Israel’s richest citizen when he left the UK for Israel after he ran into visa issues in the UK, amid a diplomatic spat between London and Moscow that eventually saw him leave London for Israel.

According to the Times of Israel, the Chelsea owner has bought a mansion in the central Israeli city of Herzliya, in what has been hailed as the most expensive residential real estate sale ever in the country. The Herzliya mansion is made up of two buildings, and its large size — 2.35 acres, or 9.5 dunams — stems from the fact that it was created by merging together four lots.

“The estate includes a tennis court, and a swimming pool on a hydraulic platform that can be converted into a guest area for events,” the report said.

If you are wondering whether the Russian billionaire will invest in the club this summer, after two transfer windows without any new name to the squad, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has assured that some signings will be done at the end of the season.

“I’m certainly excited about the squad we’ve got, with the young players and if we can get a few additions for areas I feel we need,” Lampard said.

“We didn’t bring in anyone in January, it didn’t work out to be right for us at the time, and last summer we couldn’t bring anyone in, so those windows are gone and we haven’t changed. “So I am excited about the squad we’ve got, if we can freshen up in the right areas we all know that.”
