BREAKING: Tough tackling defender signs new contract with Chelsea

Reading-born defender Charlie Wiggett has been rewarded with a new deal by English Premier League club Chelsea.

Chelsea Youth has reported that Wiggett agreed his first professional contract with the the Stamford Bridge outfit last month, without disclosing the length of agreement between club and player.

The 2002-born player represented AFC Newbury and Swindon Town prior to joining Chelsea as an U15 schoolboy.

He has been described by Chelsea’s official website as a defender who leads from the back with his tough tackling and vocal personality.

Wiggett has played 11 games in total in the U18 Premier League since making his debut for that age group during the 2017-2018 season and scored two goals from his defensive position.

He has also made appearances for the young Blues in the U18 Premier League up and FA Youth Cup.
