Chelsea board ready to use loan player to secure signing of Serie A star Tuchel ‘dreams of’

According to Il Milanista, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie. And the club could use Fikayo Tomori as a makeweight in the deal to sign him.

The 24-year-old Kessie has been with Milan since 2017 having joined on from Atalana. Having initially moved on a two-year loan deal, the Ivory Coast international’s transfer was made permanent in the summer of 2019.

During his time at San Siro, Kessie has gradually grown into a pivotal player for Milan, eventually establishing himself as one of the best in his position in the Serie A. The 24-year-old has been one of the chief driving forces behind Milan’s title push in the ongoing campaign.

It is now being claimed that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is an admirer of the Ivorian midfielder and ‘dreams’ of signing him. And, in order to make that happen, the club could look to use defender Fikayo Tomori as a makeweight.

The 23-year-old Englishman joined the Rossoneri on loan in the January transfer window and has already made quite the impression on the coaches at his new club. Milan have the option of making his transfer permanent for a transfer of £24m.

With Chelsea looking for defensive reinforcements in the summer, there remain question marks over Tomori’s future at the club. And, using him to sign a midfield powerhouse like Kessie could be a viable solution for all parties involved.

Kessie’s contract with Milan runs out in a little over a year. With his best years of him and plenty of experience at the top level, he can be a fine signing for Chelsea. It, however, remains to be seen if a move is made for the Ivorian.
