Chelsea leading race to sign record-breaking Serie A striker

Reports have suggested that Chelsea are leading the pack in efforts to secure the signing of Genoa striker Krysztof Piatek.

The Polish front-man has scored an astonishing 12 goals in his first seven games in Italy, following a summer move from Cracovia in his home country.

Tipped by many as “the next Robert Lewandowski”, the exciting forward has a well-rounded skill-set that makes him capable of scoring vast quantities of goals, as shown already this season.

Despite only being his first season with the Italian club, rumours are already suggesting multiple European clubs are prepared to cough up large sums of money for the 23-year-old.

With Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud failing to inspire Blues fans, Piatek may prove to be a welcome addition at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are far from alone in their interest however, with a series of Premier League rivals including Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton also courting the forward.

Barcelona had also been named as a party harbouring affection for Piatek.
