Club CEO officially announces he is ready to sell £89 million midfielder after Abramovich makes personal Chelsea contact

Bayer Leverkusen are ready to let Chelsea target Kai Havertz leave in the summer after he admitted he wants a new challenge.

However, According to recent reports, Chelsea are now interested in trying to acquire the services of Havertz, who is easily regarded as one of the finest talents in the game and tipped to be one of the very best players around.

And earlier reports have revealed that owner Roman Abramovich has contacted the Germans entourage to try and convince him to make the move to Chelsea in the summer window.

Now Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carrosaid in quotes carried by The Sun: “With Kai Havertz, I see that many clubs are interested in him. Kai has been with us for ten years. I see the player’s desire to take the next step some time in the near future.

“You have to try to find a solution where the player’s goal can be reconciled with ours. No one can say for sure what is going to happen at the moment.”

Bayer Leverkusen are still demanding between £89m – £107million for the seven-capped Germany international – who would dwarf Chelsea’s current club-record transfer of £71.5m paid for Kepa Arrizabalaga in 2018.

We have said it before and we will say it again, Havertz has the potential to become a big star in the game and could be a great signing for Chelsea.
