Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho this summer but face competition from Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Leicester City.

According to Daily Express, Chelsea are the most suitable Premier League club for Philippe Coutinho to join this summer due to the Blues’ financial position.

The Blues reportedly have plenty of cash to spare after a transfer ban prevented the club from making signings last summer.

Eden Hazard left Chelsea for Real Madrid last summer and the Blues are yet to reinvest his transfer fee. Chelsea’s wage bill is also at a manageable level.

Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool for £142 million in January 2018 but has failed to live up to expectations at the Spanish club.

Despite a respectable record at Barcelona – 21 goals and 11 assists in 76 appearances – Coutinho failed to win over fans in Spain.
