Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has heaped praise on Thomas Partey and admits he would have ‘loved’ to have got the chance to play alongside the midfielder
We know that we may need to prepare for next season as this year may be over, and that means that the club will need to get into that transfer kitty early in the summer and sign players that they believe, will make an impact in the side next season.
And the club have been linked with a move for Partey for many years now, and have once again showed a keen interest in a possible deal, as the 26-year-old has been in impressive form for the Spanish side .
Now, amid all the speculation, Former Chelsea midfielder Essien has not been surprised by the interest in Partey and sung his compatriot’s praises during an Instagram Live interview this week.
‘Thomas is such a good player. I’d have loved to play with him,’ Essien, now playing for Azerbaijani club Sabail, told South African reporter Carol Tshabalala.
‘He is a young and talented player making waves in Europe. He is one player I’d liked to play alongside but it will never happen. ‘It is their time at the Black Stars now so we have to support them and hopefully they can take it from where we left off.’
Partey has been impressive this season and being linked with a move for him is not surprise, especially as we are linked with pretty much every player in the world right now.
If he does go on to join Arsenal it will be a huge mistake as the move to us would be the right one to make, especially as we will have the team to go on and challenge for titles next season.
