Former Chelsea striker full of praise for Roman Abramovich

Former Chelsea striker and talkSPORT host Tony Cascarino has hailed Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich for the ‘incredible’ way he has run the club since his takeover in 2003.

Besides his contribution to making Chelsea a giant in Europe, Abramovich has shown a good example, in that while other several Premier League clubs have been criticised for furloughing staff at the taxpayers’ expense, Chelsea have made no such move but the club owner has rather made the Millennium Hotel available to the NHS in the early days of the crisis.

Abramovich has contributed greatly to the fight against coronavirus and has also been strongly involved in commitments to charity, which has left Cascarino impressed.

“There’s been a lot of speculation about Roman Abramovich over the years but I look at the amount of things he’s done well at Chelsea,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.

“He’s always been first to do gestures such as using the Millennium Hotel for the NHS and always been at the forefront of Chelsea’s expectations.

“I think he’s been an incredible owner for Chelsea Football Club.”
