Chelsea have one of the best young sides in the Premier League after Lampard was unable to sign any players during the summer transfer window, and the former Blues star has proved many critics wrong that his side could compete this season.
And another talent is about to get a new contract with the club, as 19-year-old right-back Lamptey, who made his senior debut for Chelsea when he was introduced in the 59th minute of their 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday, is about to get a new deal with the London club. Lamptey’s current deal at the Blues expires at the end of the season but the gaffer admits talks are taking place to extend that.
He told reporters on the SUN website: “We’ll see. He’s talking with the club and hopefully he feels a bit of love from today as we’ve parachuted him in. “He was actually on his Christmas break when we called him in yesterday. He trained and then played.
“I’d seen him when I was doing my coaching badges and you do a lot of hours with the academy and youth team. I saw him train a lot and I know he has a different dimension as a right-sided wing back.
“He has pace, low centre of gravity and can go by people. Of course he wants to work on his end product and all the last bits.”
Look, there is no doubt that THE BLUES are planning for the future and many fans are excited to see just where this young man goes in the game, as he has shown great potential over the last few seasons.
He now has a chance to prove himself in the game, and this new contract will be a massive boost to the club, as it just shows the direction that Chelsea are now heading, but they still need to add a few world class players to their already impressive side.
