Gladbach attacker could become Chelsea player this summer

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is eyeing a move for Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Jonas Hofmann and has already been in contact over a move.

That’s according to BILD, who say the German tactician is keen on a reunion with the 28-year-old star after working with him at Borussia Dortmund.

The newspaper adds that after Monchengladbach leader Marco Rose decided to move to Dortmund this summer, their stars will be sure to ponder their own futures.

One of those is Jonas, who is ‘igniting’ his career this campaign and has six goals and ten assists in 21 matches so far.

That has earned him plenty of attention and apparently some from Blues head coach, who has the player ‘on the note’.

He trained the player during his time with BVB, and, according to BILD, there has already been contact between Hofmann’s advisors and Tuchel.

The Chelsea chief is said to have asked Jonas’ advisor about the right wide attacker through a ‘close employee’ in his own coaching staff.

The forward, for his part, is quite prepared to leave Gladbach should he receive an attractive proposal to do so.

It’s not the first time he has been linked with a transfer to England and London as Tottenham were keen at the beginning of 2019, but the German instead decided to extend his deal with Gladbach.

Now the west Londoners are apparently keen, although the lack of a release clause in his contract means Die Fohlen, director of football Max Eberl, can ‘negotiate freely’ regarding a transfer price.
