“I don’t want Bayern”, “Want to play for London Club”- Chelsea top target reveals his next destination

Frank Lampard is likely to be after a new striker once the transfer window reopens.

One player who has been linked with the club is RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner. The German international looks set to leave the Bundesliga this summer but has largely been tipped to join his fellow German compatriot Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

However, according to The Mirror, ‘Liverpool walk away from the table’ for this deal due to financial restrictions in the midst of the coronavirus crisis.

This may well leave the door wide open for Chelsea to make their move, and they might see his £52 million release clause (cited by The Express) as a very good deal to bring in a world class forward. The clause expires on June the 15th, so any club wanting Werner for that fee will need to move fast.

The 24-.year old has also been talking about his future and prefers a move abroad, as reported by The Express.

He said: “Bayern are a great club, we don’t need to talk about it, and Hansi Flick has proven this season he is a really good head coach. “But if a move were to become an issue at some point, I would be more tempted by a move abroad than a move to Bayern.

“It’s just that the challenge of another league would appeal to me a little more than a move within the Bundesliga. “Of course, it also important that mutual respect is there as much as possible.

“That’s why I chose RB Leipzig at the time, and why I would choose the club for [the] next step as one where I would get that feeling.”
