Blues legend Gus Poyet has warned Chelsea boss Frank Lampard against selling Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer.
According to Poyet, the Chelsea defence is responsible for Kepa’s poor form as the goalkeeper has to make too many saves in a game. “I think he’s good enough,” he said on Stadium Astro.
“When a goalkeeper needs to be in a situation of making saves constantly or in situations where five yards from you is a free header, it’s not about how good you are, it’s about the team.
“He needs a little bit of help as well. “I wouldn’t be too worried about the goalkeeper.
“Having a goalkeeper so expensive that you’re going to have to bring someone in, it would be not necessary.
“Then do you want someone at the back? Depending on people leaving but everything starts on what you daily with the players and how you create a mentality that when you put a characteristic of a defender, whatever you put first it needs to be to defend.
“Then if he’s good on the ball, he’s good in the air or he can run but first he needs to defend and sometimes we forget about that.”
