Lampard reveals one ‘huge’ reason why he shunned youngsters and played strong lineup against Morecambe
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard opted to play a strong starting line-up for our FA Cup clash against League Two side Morecambe on Sunday afternoon.
It was expected Lampard will name some of Chelsea academy players in the starting XI after five academy stars trained with the first team ahead of the game against Morecambe.
According to Lampard, he took the decision to leave out almost all of the club’s young players from the match-day squad against Morecambe in an attempt to give his senior stars more first-team minutes.
“The youngsters have trained well with us but at the same time, sometimes you need to give first-team squad members a game to get some minutes,” said Lampard.
