Marina finally revealed Chelsea’s number ‘ONE’ transfer target

According to reports, Borussia Dortmund sensation is set to remain Chelsea’s number on transfer target, despite the recent change in manager at Stamford Bridge.

Roman Abramovich and the Blues board moved swiftly to replace Frank Lampard this week following a poor run of form, with former Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel deemed the man to revive the club’s fortunes.

After a summer that saw the club fork out well over £200m on a number of high profile names, Lampard’s failure to get the best out of his new faces was ultimately his downfall, with the club currently eighth and seven points adrift of the top-four.

New man Tuchel has a wealth of attacking talent at his disposal, including the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic, although it would seem the club aren’t quite done yet in the transfer market, as they look to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.

According to Fabrizio Romano on the Si Phillips Talks Chelsea Podcast, the Blues’ number one transfer target remains Dortmund star Haaland, with the change in manager seemingly not altering Chelsea‘s desire to sign the impressive Norwegian.

The 20-year-old burst onto the scene during last season’s Champions League group stage while at Red Bull Salzburg, before moving to Signal Iduna Park in January 2020, where he has since hit 27 goals in just 29 Bundesliga games.

The former Molde forward is seemingly the hottest young prospect in football and will no doubt have a long list clubs after his signature either this summer or next.

The striker has a £66m release clause in his current contract that can be activated in the summer of 2022, with interested parties ready to fight it out for his next signature.

With Dortmund seemingly set to lose their star man in a year’s time, they may well look to cash in this summer, in order to recoup a much larger transfer fee than his release clause.

Should they firm up their interest, Chelsea are likely to face stiff competition for the striker, with Manchester United and Real Madrid among those to have been linked with the prolific youngster.
