Nemanja Matic reveals what forced him to leave Chelsea in 2017

Nemanja Matic was on of the key Chelsea player and won two Premier League titles with the Blues before leaving for Manchester United in 2017.

Jose Mourinho signed up Matic from Benfica in 2014, and played a key role to win the Premier League under Mourinho and two years later under Antonio Conte.

Matic has now admitted that it was the ‘right moment’ to leave Chelsea and something prompted his decision, but says a full explanation of his decision to leave Stamford Bridge will come out one day.

“I was very happy at Chelsea, but I thought it was the right moment to change club,” Matic told Football Beyond Borders.

“There were reasons which are hard for me to say now. I will never forget my time there, but I’m a Manchester United player now.”

Speaking about Jose Mourinho who signed him at Old Trafford, Matic replied: “It depends. If you win, he’s the best guy ever. But if you lose, you’re hiding from him at the training ground. But he’s an amazing coach.”
