REPORT: Bayern Munich boss unhappy player is close to joining Chelsea

Ahead of Saturday’s Champions League game between Bayern Munich and Chelsea, Bayern Munich boss coach Hansi Flick has admitted his regret at missing out on the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.

The midfielder has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Blues and is set to join Chelsea after the Europa League campaign with Bayer Leverkusen.

Flick said after missing out on Havertz: “There are few coaches who would object if he played on their teams. “I am one of them.”

On Chelsea beating Bayern to Havertz’s transfer, he added: “C’est la vie.”

Meanwhile, according to Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, Chelsea transfer target Kai Havertz is a already a better player than Chelsea great Michael Ballack.

He said: “In my opinion, Havertz is even better than Ballack in terms of his playing ability. Ballack had a certain level of aggression in his game, and a strong mentality.

“He was a top player of the previous generation – a b*d on the pitch, in a positive sense. Kai isn’t like that.”
