REPORT: Jan Oblak sends possible transfer message to Chelsea

According to reports in Spain, Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak is having doubts over ambitions of the Spanish club amid interest from Chelsea.

Spanish media outlet AS claim Oblak was left frustrated by Atletico’s lack of silverware last season as they crashed out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stages to RB Leipzig and finished 17 points behind La Liga winners Real Madrid.

Oblak’s frustration at Atletico Madrid have offered Chelsea hope in the pursuit of the 27 year old goalkeeper.

Chelsea are on the hunt for a new No 1 as Frank Lampard is unimpressed with the inconsistency of Kepa Arrizabalaga and the Blues see Oblak as the ideal replacement for Kepa.

Atletico remain firm in their stance that any club looking to sign their No.1 must pay his €120 million (£108m) release clause. It is highly unlikely Chelsea will pay £108 million to capture Oblak but AS suggest a potential deal is not dead in the water.

Meanwhile Jan Oblak sends transfer message to Chelsea before Atletico’s Champions League exit to Leipzig, the 27-year-old refused to rule out a switch to Chelsea.

“This is not the time to talk about that,” he said.

“I’ll assess the season when the last game is over… then there will be time after that to talk.”
