According to reports, Chelsea are looking to bring in some world-class defensive reinforcements to solve their defensive issues ahead of next season. Chelsea are now reportedly set to complete a massive double signing of Atletico Madrid’s defender Jose Gimanez and Porto’s Alex Telles.

Chelsea have been keen on bringing in a world-class Centre-back and the Blues have been linked with a host of defender in recent weeks, however, Chelsea have earmarked Atletico Madrid’s Uruguayan defender Jose Maria Gimenez. The world-class defender has been identified as the man to transform Chelsea’s backline.

The 24-year old Jose Gimenez is regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe and his excellent defensive abilities for Diego Simeone has caught the attentions of Frank Lampard and Chelsea transfer chiefs. The defender is strong in his tackles, put his body on the line and also, has that drive and focus which is missing in Chelsea’s defence.

However, Chelsea will have to pay a fee in the region of £70million to sign the defender from Atletico Madrid. Chelsea will have to spend huge if the club is ready to sign a world-class Centre-back like Gimenez and Frank Lampard is keen on the player.

Also, Chelsea are in a pole position to complete the signing of Porto’s left-back Alex Telles as the Blues have been in talks with the player for several weeks now. Chelsea are reportedly set to beat the likes of PSG to the signing of the Brazilian defender.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has not been impressed by the performances of Alonso and Emerson at the left-back position and he has identified highly attacking Alex Telles as the perfect replacement. Alex Telles has scored 13-goals and laid 12-assists in all competitions for Porto this season from the left-back position.

Chelsea are now set to finalize a deal of £40million to complete the signing of the defender and his addition will be huge signing for the Blues as it will bring huge defensive stability and also, a threat in attack as Frank Lampard likes his Full-backs to push up.

The signings of both Gimenez and Telles will go a long way to solve Chelsea’s defensive frailties and this will make Chelsea a solid side as the Blues have improve their attack with Ziyech and Werner.
