Thomas Tuchel reveals perfect position Kai Havertz will play in his Chelsea team

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel seems to have huge plans for summer signing Kai Havertz, as the Blues board will love for the £70m signing to make an impact at the club, after such heavy investment.

One of Frank Lampard’s biggest problem was how to utilise Havertz. The former Chelsea boss played the 21-year-old in various positions – as a false nine, an attacking midfielder and also from the flanks, but nothing worked for Havertz, until he was dismissed in January.

And now, it seems Thomas Tuchel will also have the problem of not knowing where to deploy Havertz.

Tuchel has admitted that he isn’t yet certain of the best position for Havertz, but believes that it should be high up the pitch, between No. 9 and No. 10 positions.

Tuchel told the media: “He is a unique player. It’s not so clear where he needs to settle. Does he need to settle on one special position? Or is he kind of a hybrid player? Today, I would say he’s in between a nine and a 10, something in between.

“He’s very comfortable in the box; he’s very comfortable in high positions, he’s very good at offensive headers, he has good timing to arrive in the box, good finishing, good composure in the box, around the box, and very comfortable in high positions so between nine and 10.”
