Tuchel OFFICIALLY opens up to rumours that £38 million defender is heading to Chelsea

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has attempted to distance his side from talk linking them with a move for Dayot Upamecano.

Upamecano is one of the most sought-after defenders on the market, with the 22-year-old France international looking likely to depart RB Leipzig this summer as he looks to make that next step up in his career.

Chelsea have been linked with a move, along with other top European clubs like Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester United and PSG, and although he is tied to Leipzig until 2023, his Volker Struth, has confirmed he has a €42.5 million (£38m/$52m) release clause in his deal.

However, amid all the speculation suggesting that Chelsea are already prepared to open talks with the agent of Upamecano and activate that low release clause, Tuchel has tried to cool down the rumours that he wants to add Upamecano to the squad in the transfer window

“I can understand the interest in the question and the interest of every fan and supporter to talk about these subjects,” Tuchel said on Sky Sports. “I am always a fan and am interested in what’s going on.

“But now it is February and there is a long way to go. As you get to know me, you will know I will not talk about other players who are under contract.

“This is the type of respect I show. Everything else will be decided behind closed doors. I’m sorry.”

We have said it before and we will say it again, Chelsea will make a move for Upamecano in the coming months.

He is a player that is perfect for the Premier League and that money he is going for is a real bargain, he would normally cost double that money. So eve though Tuchel doesnt want to talk about the player just yet, he is high up on the Blues shopping list.
