“Why Tuchel is benching me”- Ziyech finally reveals

Chelsea wizard Hakim Ziyech was one of Chelsea’s exciting signings to have joined the club ahead of the 2020-21 season. He was the first of six to join Frank Lampard’s first team.

Ziyech seemed impressive at some point this season, before injury took a toll on his form. His injury against Leeds United coincided with Chelsea’s poor run of form that eventually cost Frank Lampard his job.

However, new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel played Ziyech in his first game in charge against Wolves, but he hasn’t featured again since then.

Tuchel had initially claimed that Ziyech needed to rest and recover from the toll of injury, but the Moroccan international has now figured that this is beyond the injury claims, and he has vowed to impress in training and win back his place.

“You know that can happen if the results are not good. It is also not the first time that it happens to me that the trainer is fired, so I know how to deal with that,” Hakim Ziyech told Ziggo Sport.

“We will have to wait and see what kind of system he [Tuchel] wants to play in. We have already played twice with three defenders and I was a second ten.

“But as you know: whether I play on the right or in the centre, that doesn’t really matter to me. As long as I play. That is the most important.”
