£100M Chelsea signing ‘gamechanger’ –Boehly releases statement after deal–Poch told to get deal done for£72M man

Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has sent a message after Mason Mount’s departure was confirmed.

Mount was regarded very highly at Stamford Bridge and become a real fans favorite for his tireless performances on the pitch – but over the last 12 months he had fallen out of favour at the club.

Add that to the fact that he couldnt agree a new contract with CHELSEA– it meant that Man United were able to swoop in, offer £60 million and get a deal done for the Englishman.

Mount has signed a five-year contract at Man United, running until 2028 with the option of a further year.

Boehly said: Mason is a consummate professional and a popular figure at the club. We want to thank him for all his efforts on and off the pitch throughout his time at Chelsea.”

Mount has not revealed that this is the right time for him to leave Chelsea, a club that he has been at since the age of six.

In a farewell social media video to Chelsea supporters on Tuesday evening, Mount said: “Hi Chelsea fans. Given the speculation over the last couple of months, this may not come as a surprise to you that I’ve made the decision to leave Chelsea. I feel you deserve more than just a written statement.

“So I wanted to tell you directly how grateful I’ve been for all of your support over the last 18 years. I know some of you won’t be happy with my decision, but it’s what is right for me at this moment in my career.

“I joined CHELSEA when I was six years old and we’ve been through a lot together. Winning the Youth Cup, my player of the year awards, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup, and the unforgettable night when we won the Champions League.

“I want to say thank you to the academy for being so influential to me from a young age. The managers I’ve worked under, the backroom staff, all of my team-mates over the years who have become my brothers, and most importantly you guys.

“I wish you all the best.”

Poch told to sell Kepa –

Mauricio Pochettino has been told to replace CHELSEA goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga by Paul Merson

Edouard Mendy’s departure suggests that Pochettino has decided to stick with Arrizabalaga as his No. 1 next season but Merson believes Chelsea are ‘crying out’ for a new world class goalkeeper.

‘Chelsea are crying out for a new goalkeeper,’ Merson told Sky Sports‘You need a goalkeeper who is going to win you points. Having one can half move you up the league quickly.

‘David De Gea gets slaughtered at Manchester United for giving away points, but he gains a lot of points for them, he probably saves more points than he loses.

‘Chelsea’s midfield is crying out for reinforcements too. Everyone has gone.

‘They have got Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher at the club, there is talk of Moises Caicedo coming in, but that is all they’ve got, potentially three midfield players, that is it.

‘As we sit here today, if Mauricio Pochettino gets Chelsea into the top four having only signed Caicedo, you would say he pulled up trees.’

Chelsea told to sign Kane –

Paul Merson also believes reuniting Mauricio Pochettino with Tottenham captain Harry Kane would be a game-changer for CHELSEA.

Pochettino is now officially at Stamford Bridge to start the job that he agreed too weeks ago – and there is a feeling that a new striker is wanted by the Argentine boss.

Kane is a player that is heavily tipped to leave Tottenham this summer and Merson believes reuniting Pochettino with Tottenham captain Harry Kane would be a game-changer for Chelsea.

‘They need midfielders and they also need a centre-forward,’ the ex-Arsenal star said. ‘The only player out there who takes Chelsea to another level is Harry Kane, he’s the only one.

‘He takes Chelsea to challenging for the league title again. If Chelsea buy Kane, something would be wrong if they didn’t finish in the top four, that’s how big a difference Kane would make.

‘He scored 30 league goals last season for Tottenham, for Tottenham. And who’s playing with him at Spurs? He has to do it all himself virtually. If he stays at Spurs next season with James Maddison now there, I dread to think how many goals he will get.

‘I cannot for the life of me see Kane join Bayern Munich. Why would you get to within 47 goals of Alan Shearer’s Premier League scoring record and then go to Bayern to help them win the Bundesliga for the 97th time on the trot? Why would you go? What for?’
