3:30pm: Defender close to Chelsea deal, as Blues agree four year deal for transfer of player

Chelsea are looking to tie up a couple of big players to new contracts, and one of those is close to agreeing a new long-term contract.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea have offered both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen new contracts, and the latter is very close to signing the deal.

There is no mention of how close Rudiger is as of yet, because he was close to leaving the club not so long ago but his fortunes have now turned.

Whether he will stay or not though remains to be seen. Christensen agreeing a new deal though would be a great capture for Chelsea with the form he has been in last season and started this season.

The report does mention Chelsea’s interest in Jules Kounde as well, who is obviously a defender, so whether that plays a factor in their decisions or not we will soon find out.

Blues agree four year deal for transfer of player

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Serie A side Atalanta have reached an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of right-back Davide Zappacosta.

The report claims Chelsea will receive €10million for the transfer of the 29 year old right-back.

Zappacosta is due in Italy on Monday ahead of his medical examinations which are expected to take place on Tuesday.

He will sign a four year contract with Atalanta after undergoing his medicals on Tuesday.

Zappacosta attracted interest from Fiorentina and Atalanta this summer but it is the latter that have won the race for the 29 year old.
