“39-years-old man will replace him” – Rio Ferdinand sends strong warning to Chelsea man ahead of next season

Axel Disasi has been warned he may lose his place in the Chelsea starting XI if Thiago Silva extends his contract at Stamford Bridge.

This is according to former Manchester United star, Rio Ferdinand, who was speaking via Vibe With Five.

Disasi joined the Blues from AS Monaco during the summer, and has managed 22 appearances across all competitions so far. The Frenchman has also been used both as a centre back and a right-back.

Meanwhile, Silva is out of contract with the Blues at the end of the season after spending close to four years there.

The 39-year-old however, remains outstanding in his performances, despite his age, and Ferdinand has now stated that he would play the Brazilian and Levi Colwill in central defence if he stays at the club next season.

“I don’t think he gets to play,” Ferdinand said, when asked about Disasi.

“Next season I’d keep Thiago Silva still and I’d play Colwill left centre-back.”

Ferdinand’s brother, Anton, who was also on the show, was however more positive in his rating of Disasi, and said he has been impressed by the 25-year-old so far in this campaign.

“I think Diasi… you know like Kolo Toure, in terms of a fantastic defender, aggressive, but always had to make last-ditch tackles because he was in the wrong position or something went wrong somewhere else,” Anton Ferdinand said.

“I think he [Disasi] is aggressive, front-foot, like how Kolo started. I think there’s potential in there.”
