£54 million French International to solve Chelsea’s biggest issues if Lamps can get deal done
Chelsea signed a few players in the transfer window to sort out their clean sheet issues, but Dayot Upamecano is the man that they make a move for next.
Upamecano has become one of the most sought after young defenders in the game after helping RB Salzburg reach the latter stages of the Champions League last season, and a whole host of elite clubs are ready to pay £54 million and get a transfer deal done.
Chelsea are one of the clubs that are reportedly interested in a potential deal, as Frank Lampard knows that he needs to improve that back-line in order to get the club challenging for Champions League and Premier League titles in this coming season.
Lampards men can simply not keep clean-sheets and it is costing them massive points, although their draw at Sevilla on Tuesday evening ended up being 0-0, and giving Lampard the clean sheet he has been craving for.
And with the January window just a few months away, there has been talk that Chelsea will reignite their interest in signing Declan Rice, who they were keen on during the summer transfer window, but they should forget him for now and make the move for Upamecano.
Young, talented, a leader and already proven in the Champions League, he is a player that will be joining one of the big clubs in the next few transfer windows, and if Chelsea miss out, it will be a massive mistake.
Chelsea have done some wonderful transfer business already this summer and will be a massive threat next season, but they are still lacking a quality centre-half at the club and need to splash the cash on that area of the pitch.
If they wish to challenge for that Premier League title, then having a top-class attack will simply not do it, as even the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool put so much emphasis on keeping clean sheets.
Upamecano is certainly a player that many Chelsea fans have been hoping that a move could be made for over the last few months, so with the club still having issues at the back that will put real danger to their chances of getting back inside those top four spots Lampard needs to do something
Upamecano could have been a great signing for the club in the last transfer window, and with rumours that RB will sell if his asking price is met, Chelsea would be fools not to make a move
