6pm: Tuchel told £100m will signed star, as Blues determined to agree deal for 25-year-old Bundesliga forward
West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is worth £100million – especially after his Euro 2020 performances, former Hammer Carlton Cole believes.
Now the transfer window has been open for a while now but fans have not seen too many transfers get announced, with the only real business players departing Stamford Bridge
But there are alot of rumours that Declan Rice is a player that we are still interested in.
Former boss Frank Lampard was thought to be a big admirer of the England man with it also being reported that his replacement Thomas Tuchel had renewed the club’s interest
The Hammers are demanding £100million for his services and and Cole, who played for both West Ham and Chelsea, believes he is worth that fee following his exceptional displays at Euro 2020 for the Three Lions.
He told talkSPORT: “Every time he kicked a ball in the Euros, I was like: ‘His price has gone up!’
“He’s becoming more and more desirable and for me, he’s a top, top player – we all know that at West Ham.
“He’s proved himself there and been under the mentorship of a great West Ham legend in Mark Noble.
“He [Noble] hasn’t had any caps for England but been a great model pro. Rice has been working under his tutelage and learning the ropes in how to be a leader on the pitch.
“He’s got the qualities of a centre-midfielder, but he can play as a centre-back as well. All it is with Declan is that he needs games at the highest level.”
Asked whether he was worth £50m, Cole responded: “I’m going double that. In this day and age that is.
“He’s so valued by West Ham and an integral part of this West Ham outfit.
“If you start selling your best players then you’ll be in trouble.”
Blues determined to agree deal for 25-year-old Bundesliga forward
Chelsea are reportedly planning to make a swap deal with German giants, Bayern Munich involving Callum Hudson-Odoi and Kingsley Coman.
Hudson-Odoi has enjoyed regular action for the West London club last season and finished the current campaign playing 37 games in all competitions, however, he only started 10 Premier League games.
Coman, meanwhile, has been strongly linked with a move away from Bayern Munich in recent months, and talks over an extension beyond 2023 are believed to have hit a brick wall.
According to L’Equipe, German giants are now open to selling Coman given their desperate need to balance the books, however, it would take a straight cash offer of €90m (£77.1m) to tempt Bayern Munich into a sale.
As a result, Chelsea are supposedly looking to sweeten the deal by offering Hudson-Odoi in the player-plus-cash deal, with Bayern trying and failing to prise him away from Premier League last summer, however, the Blues turned down a £35m bid from the German giants.
Bayern Munich head-coach boss Julian Nagelsmann is believed to be keen to keep Coman, however, Thomas Tuchel has allegedly decided that Callum Hudson-Odoi is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
