£77M star tells Chelsea he will consider January move after being offered contract to sign
Josko Gvardiol, a standout for RB Leipzig, has informed clubs like Chelsea that he would be open to moving during the January transfer window.
Following the club’s decision to fire German manager Thomas Tuchel following a lackluster start to the new season, Graham Potter has agreed to a five-year contract with Chelsea.
Owner Todd Boehly is said to have promised the former Brighton manager that he will have plenty of time to carry out his ambitions for the position.
And it appears that Potter already has an eye on the January transfer market, with Bild reporting that the Blues are anticipated to rekindle their interest in signing Gvardiol at the start of the new year.
One of the brightest young defenders in Europe, Gvardiol is contracted to Leipzig through the summer of 2027.
However, It is said that Chelsea are ready to again try in their efforts to land the defender, who they reportedly offered £77 million for towards the back end of the summer transfer window – despite the reports that he has been offered a new contract
Now, The defender has suggested that he will reconsider his future in January, provided Chelsea reignite their interest.
I’m happy at Leipzig, I still have a lot to learn and need to work on myself.
‘I have people who deal with it, I didn’t think about a transfer. We’ll see what happens in the winter.
‘I feel great, I’m healthy. I was a little behind at the beginning of the season due to rehabilitation.
‘Now I’m waiting for the opportunity and minutes and I’m trying to use them in the best possible way.’
