Hakim Ziyech back in Ajax training ahead of summer Chelsea move

Chelsea fans will be excited to see Hakim Ziyech in a Blues shirt next season after the Blues clinched his signing in February. However, Ziyech’s 2019/20 season is over after the Dutch FA decided to finish the campaign due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

With Ziyech originally expected to join the Blues on July 1, there had been question marks over whether or not that would still be the case. There is no answer yet for if the Premier League season will be completed, what that schedule might look like and when the transfer window will open.

However, Ziyech will be a Chelsea player next season, and even though the Dutch league has been cancelled, Ziyech has been training with Ajax and keeping himself fit before his move to the Blues.

Ajax have nothing to prepare for right now, however the players have been back in a stripped back form of training, with the players also wearing gloves. Frank Lampard will be hoping that Ziyech will be ready to go for whenever the next campaign will start up and it would have been a boost to see the Moroccan in training.

Ajax will not be crowned Eredivisie champions after the season was declared null and void, a decision that Ziyech admits he found strange.

“This isn’t the way I wanted to finish the season and say goodbye to Ajax, obviously,” Ziyech told Voetbal International. β€œI, and all people around the club, had something great in mind for the coming months. That isn’t happening and that’s very unfortunate.

“I knew it was over when [Dutch PM Mark] Rutte said there will be no football until the first of September. β€œI wanted to end my time here in a good way, with a championship title.
