Chelsea have been alerted to signing Lautari Martinez, with reports he is refusing to discuss a new contract with Inter Milan. Despite the Coronavirus putting a hold to the Premier League season and despite the fact that the transfer window is still months away, there has been alot of speculation in the media about possible arrivals to Stamford Bridge, with a striker on the agenda.
It is no secret that Frank Lampard is keen to improve this side with some big time signings, and reports in the media have suggested he will indeed get the £200 million it will take to sign some top-class, big-time names players in the summer, with a striker on the list
Olivier Giroud is seemingly destined to pack his bags and leave the club at the end of the season having failed to agree a move away in the January window, while Mitchy batshuayi is more of a thirds-choice striker that is only needed when the other two are injured or need to rest.
Martinez has been in a rich vein of form this season, scoring 16 goals in all competitions and drawing interest from top European clubs, with reports Barcelona have identified Martinez and Neymar as their top priority summer signings, Chelsea are in for a battle next summer.
But amid all the speculation suggesting that Martinez has an agreement to leave Milan in the summer, Chelsea and Barcelona have again been boosted in their chase to sign the striker, as Spanish website Mundo Deportivo, claim the Argentine striker will not entertain the prospect of fresh terms at the San Siro.
Martinez’s contract, which contains a £98.5million release clause, will expire in June 2023 and Inter had hoped to ward off interest from abroad with a lucrative new deal. Look, Martinez is certainly a man that will be in the transfer headlines alot during the summer transfer window, and rightly so, he has been in brilliant form for Milan this season.
Chelsea have Abraham and he has been brilliant too, but Lampard knows that he needs to have another striker in the side and Martinez is only one of a few that he reportedly wants.
If they miss out, it will be a big loss, but if Chelsea have the money, they will surely make a move to sign Martinez.
