Chelsea fans will be hoping that the Premier League will be close to a return with an announcement due next Monday.
The Bundesliga, in Germany, is set to restart towards the end of May after the German government gave it the go ahead to recommence.
That has given English fans the hope that the Premier League will follow suit and could get the 2019/20 campaign completed. However, there is still a long way for that to happen and things to be ironed out for the Premier League and its shareholders.
Frank Lampard will no doubt be thinking about what his best Chelsea starting XI could look like, though, for when football might get back under way. Several Blues players will be glad for the break, allowing them to recover from injury and Lampard should have a full squad to choose from once again.
That would mean Kepa Arrizabalaga would be back in between the sticks, and the strongest centre-back pairing being Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma.
Even though Marcos Alonso performed well before the season’s suspension, Cesar Azpilicueta should start on the left to make room for Reece James on the right.
With N’Golo Kante back to full fitness, he should come in to a midfield two with Mateo Kovacic, with Lampard playing a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Mason Mount could play in the number ten role, with Christian Pulisic playing off the left and Willian on the right. Tammy Abraham had been struggling with an ankle injury, however the time off has given him time to recover and be back as part of the starting XI.
